Horizons announce the start of its new Aspirations Project

‘Aspirations’ will be running in Kent and East Sussex. Horizons will be working with partners North Kent Mind and Runway Training with Porchlight leading the 2 and a half year project across both counties.

This new service is for people who have mental health difficulties and feel marginalised by society.

The aims of Aspirations is to help people deal with the difficulties they face in accessing services and gaining the skills and confidence that would empower them to become economically active. This would enable people to live more positively and regain their independence.

Barbara Van Minnen, Project Development Manager, Porchlight, said:

“Mental ill health can make everyday tasks seem overwhelming. If you’re out of work, it can affect                                     self-belief and subsequently your chances of gaining employment. Our Aspirations service will help                                 people who have not found the support they need in their community.”

The Aspirations Project is being made possible thanks to a Building Better Opportunities grant from the Big Lottery Fund and European Social Fund. For further information, please contact Tina Garton or Debbie Laws on 01424 204136
